Second track update

A good bit of work was completed on the top section of the new track at the weekend, as the work went on the scale of just how good this track could be started to become clear, big rock drops and technical rocky sections play a big part in this track with smoother more flat out sections to come futher on down, i for one can't wait till it's finished.
If anyone wants to get involved with the new track and club then drop me an E-mail at ruffriderzmtb@yahoo.ie

Epic DH Day at Cloon 19th Dec

Went to the DH day with the Epic lads today in Cloon, the weather was brisk enough but the sun was shinning which kept the spirits up, i hadn't been on the DH bike for a proper spin in a good while so i was well looking forward to this.
Started off as usual dressed up as if i was heading to the north pole, half way up the NPS track and the effort from pushing the Glory was starting to run down my brow, i couldn't wait to get to the top to shed a few layers.
The start ramp in Cloon has always been a nervy point for me, why i don't know but every time i get up there i get a bit nervous, maybe it's that sharp corner straight after it? i don't know, but once it's done i'm fine for the rest of the day.
Anyway off i went on my first run, nice and steady from top to bottom, track was slippy, even worse than last years winter league race, the ground was solid from frost. Without mishap i went back to the top, this time i was close to a face plant, worse thing was it was in front of Cummins so piss taking quickly followed, a close one indeed, i wasn't so luck the next run though lol, with the ground so slippy and so many people on the track i managed to slam into the deck trying to avoid running into someone, a slight touch of the front brake was all it took, a few aches and pains tomorrow i can tell you without a doubt.
All in all it was a good day, i got plenty of riding done and had a good laugh with the lads, although i think Bren should change his bars cause i got mine first ;-), a great turn out for EpicDH too, i wish the lads all the best in the new year and look forward to there next session.

Second Track on the way

Work has started on the second track in the Mt Leinster area, unlike the first track this will be much longer and more intense, first quarter is near completion and looking seriously good, futher updates will follow as work is completed.

Kilbranish Mini DH track complete

Kilbranish mini DH track is the first step in bring Downhill Mountain Biking to the Mt Leinster area, this is a reasonably short track running at roughly 2 mins 10sec for the average rider. It is a track for all levels, comprising of nasty rock sections at the top to nice flowy/drifty section at the bottom. Here is a small video of the bottom section http://www.pinkbike.com/video/155450/#top
I would like to thank Racing795 http://racing795.com/ for all the help they gave me in building this track, without there help it wouldn't have happened.
